The global disposable glove market is experiencing renewed price volatility, with nitrile gloves facing increasing cost pressure from developments in the upstream NBR and petrochemical markets.
Nitrile gloves are manufactured using nitrile-based synthetic rubber, making their production costs closely connected to the availability and pricing of key feedstocks such as butadiene and acrylonitrile. Recent disruptions in global energy and chemical supply chains have added further uncertainty to raw material procurement.
According to recent market analysis, U.S. NBR prices increased by approximately 1.4% through late August 2026, supported by tighter upstream supply, resilient industrial demand and higher replacement costs for key feedstocks. Market conditions are expected to remain relatively firm in September as supply and logistics risks continue to influence costs.
The impact on the glove industry has already become visible. Chinese NBR prices experienced a correction during the second quarter as feedstock costs eased and supply conditions improved.
